The Cartist

The commissioning process is a very simple one – The Cartist is happy to draw any motoring subject based on the customer’s requirements.  Commissions will often recall a favourite car, bike, or favourite motoring adventure.  Subjects can vary from a vehicle owned by the customer in a present day scene or maybe a historical race, driver or vehicle which the customer has an particular interest in.  The Cartist often works from photographs of individual cars/bikes, but is equally happy to source material from his own, extensive library of books and photographs.

To discuss your requirements on an informal basis, please contact The Cartist using the contact details on the Contact page.

Process & Materials

Based on initial discussion (usually conducted by email or on the telephone), The Cartist prepares sketches which he sends to customers for their approval.  Once the content and composition, as well as the size and style of the work are agreed, The Cartist will produce a drawing, normally in Copic graphic markers, coloured pencil and/or graphite or a combination of all three mediums.  Only the finest and most durable art materials are used in each artwork to produce a drawing that is amazingly accurate and of the highest quality.  All artwork is rendered on very high-quality Strathmore 300 Series Bristol Board paper which has an ultra-smooth white matte finish. Standard sizes include A4 and A3 (in both horizontal and vertical orientation), which allows the work to fit almost all standard frames.  Larger sizes from A2 up to A1 can be commissioned on request.  In addition to commissions, numbered and signed prints of existing artwork can also be ordered on request.

Price & Payment

The price for an orginal piece of artwork is based on the subject matter, style of drawing, size, medium(s) chosen, and is provided across the complete price spectrum.  However, as a guide, prices start at 100 USD (A4 size), 150 USD (A3 size), 250 USD (A2 size) and 350 USD (A1 size).
