While my primary focus is usually on automotive artworks, I also enjoy doing pencil portraits of people, animals or any other subject matter on special request as can be seen in my portraits gallery within my portfolio. For international customers pricing starts at $300 USD for a black and white pencil portrait and $400 USD for a colour pencil portrait commission. Commissioning a pencil portrait consists of a few simple steps:

1. CONTACT

The process of commissioning a personalised pencil portrait is very easy! The first step will be to contact me via email or social media. When you contact me, please include at least 1 to 3 reference photos of the subject matter and send them to me via email: info@thecartist.com. We can discuss the layout possibilities and I will advise which photos will work best as reference for the artwork.

2. PAYMENT

Once you are happy with the proposed layout we will move to making payment. International customers will receive a PayPal invoice. Customers based in South Africa will receive an invoice that can be paid via EFT. Full payment must be made before I start the artwork.

3. PORTRAIT

Once payment is received, I will add you to my artwork schedule and start the artwork as soon as possible. The entire commissioning process will take roughly 1 to 2 weeks to complete, depending on how busy I am with other projects and commissions. I will keep you updated during the process and send you photos of the artwork once completed.

Mediums: All my commissioned pencil portraits are done using high-quality and durable art materials which include Faber-Castell and Derwent graphite pencils (black & white artworks), and Prismacolor Premier pencils (colour artworks). Additionally, I use various Copic markers which help create subtle tonal values in the artwork.

Paper: All my pencil portraits are drawn on high-quality Strathmore Bristol 300gsm board size: (330 x 510mm / 13 x 20 inches). This heavy duty, ultra-white paper board is acid-free and archival which means that the paper will not turn yellow over time.

Fixative: After each pencil portrait is completed, I spray it with high-quality Krylon Gallery Series Fine Art fixative which protects the artwork from smudging, dusting and fading.

4. SHIPPING

Once the artwork is finished and you are happy with the end result, I will ship the artwork to you! All my pencil portraits are shipped in sturdy postal tubes which ensure they reach their final destination in perfect condition. Shipping comes with full online tracking and tracing and takes anywhere between 2 to 6 working days depending on destination and customs.

My artworks have successfully been shipped to countries all over the world, including the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, as well as countries across Europe and the Middle East.
